The BLT you know and love, upgraded with creamy avocado and a swipe of garlic mayo — lunchtime perfection.
lunch • prep: 10 min • cook: 10 min • serves 4
Ingredients
- 12 slices thick-cut bacon
- 8 slices sourdough bread, toasted
- 2 ripe avocados, sliced
- 4 leaves romaine or butter lettuce
- 2 large tomatoes, sliced
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Cook the bacon: Lay bacon in a cold skillet and cook over medium heat, flipping occasionally, until crispy — about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
-
Make garlic mayo: Mix mayonnaise with minced garlic. Spread on one side of each toasted bread slice.
-
Build the sandwiches: Layer lettuce, tomato slices, avocado, and 3 slices of bacon on each sandwich. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Serve: Press gently, cut in half on the diagonal, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Storage: Best eaten fresh — assemble right before serving so the bread stays crispy.
- Variations: Add a fried egg on top for a BLAT+E. Use turkey bacon for a lighter take.
- Tips: Use the best tomatoes you can find — they make or break a BLT.
