Cheesy Sausage Balls
A crowd favorite, and incredibly easy to make. These cheesy sausage balls are a satisfying appetizer or snack at every gathering.
INGREDIENTS
***Ingredients work best at room temperature.
- 1 pound ground sausage - pork is recommended but any will work
- 2 cups of Bisquick
- 1/4 cup water or milk
- 1 pound shredded sharp cheddar cheese
COOK THIS
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Use a baking pan/cookie sheet with edges for run-off. No need to prepare the dish for baking, though parchment paper helps with the cleanup.
- In a large bowl, mix all ingredients by hand and until the mixture can be rolled into walnut sized balls.
- Transfer rolled balls to the baking pan and cook for 25 minutes. Do not overcook or they will be dry.
- Serve immediately. Ranch dressing makes a great companion.
TIPS
- These can be pre-made and cooked later. They can be frozen or refrigerated for up to 3 days until you are ready to bake and serve.
- Shredding your own cheese will make them less dry, though pre-shredded works just fine.
- These are best served out of the oven. Microwave reheating is possible but not recommended. They are also good served at room temperature.
- Add other spices if you like! Garlic, Cayenne Pepper, Chives, Lemon Pepper. Salt is not needed since the sausage and cheese is great on its own.
